The Wedding Season of Life: Giving Joyfully, Resting Intentionally

This past year, I’ve entered what I lovingly call the wedding season of life — and wow, it’s been a ride.

In just the last 12 months, I’ve flown to five weddings and four bachelorette parties, and the celebrations keep coming. I wouldn’t miss a single one. I adore showing up for the people I love, cheering them on, dancing all night, and soaking in the magic of these once-in-a-lifetime moments.

But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tired.

Joy and Exhaustion Can Coexist

There’s something unique about the exhaustion that comes from good things. Weddings, reunions, travel, connection — they fill your heart but drain your energy. Life doesn’t slow down in between. Work continues. Laundry piles up. Bodies get sore, nervous systems overloaded, and eventually, even the most joyful heart needs to rest.

That’s what I’ve been learning lately:
You can love your life and still need recovery.

For me, the antidote has been simple but non-negotiable: intentional rest. Not squeezing in a nap or hoping for an open afternoon. I mean blocking off full days to do nothing.
No errands. No appointments. No phone calls.
Just space to breathe, sleep, walk, read, be.

Massage as a Way Back to Yourself

It’s easy to forget our bodies in the rush of planning, traveling, socializing. Massage — especially myofascial release — brings me home. It’s where I remember how to exhale. It’s where I reconnect with me, so I can keep showing up for the people I love.

If you’re in your own version of wedding season — or just juggling a full, joyful life — I can’t recommend this kind of pause enough.

Journal Prompt
