What Is Somatic Coaching?

Somatic coaching is a body-oriented approach to growth and transformation that invites you to slow down, listen inward, and let your body guide the way. The word somatic comes from the Greek word soma, meaning “the living body in its wholeness.”
Rather than focusing only on the mind’s stories or external goals, somatic coaching helps you reconnect to your inner experience — sensations, breath, movement, and posture — as doorways to deeper understanding and change.

“Coaching is a co-creative process of inquiry in service of the potential that is seeking to emerge in your life.” — The Somatic School

How It Works

In a somatic coaching session, we might explore what’s happening in your body in the present moment — noticing sensations, tension, temperature, or even subtle impulses to move. Through guided awareness, breathwork, or gentle movement, we bring curiosity and compassion to whatever arises.
This process helps you access the body’s natural intelligence — revealing insights that often can’t be reached through words alone.

You don’t need to “fix” anything; instead, we cultivate awareness and trust in your body’s own wisdom. Over time, you may find yourself making clearer decisions, setting boundaries with more ease, and feeling more grounded and connected in everyday life.

Why It Pairs Beautifully with Bodywork

Massage and myofascial release help bring awareness to the body — softening tissue, improving mobility, and inviting presence. Somatic coaching takes that awareness a step deeper by exploring how your internal landscape shapes your outer experience.

For many of my clients at Sol Massage in San Diego, this combination creates a powerful cycle of healing: bodywork releases what’s held physically, while somatic coaching helps integrate those shifts into daily life, relationships, and self-expression.

Coming Soon to Sol Massage

I’m currently in training with The Somatic School, a U.K.-based program that weaves science, mindfulness, and embodiment practices into a rich coaching framework. As part of my certification, I’m offering a limited number of free practice sessions — an opportunity to explore somatic coaching firsthand as I complete my required hours.

If you’re curious about reconnecting with your body’s wisdom or exploring life from a more grounded place, stay tuned — I’ll be opening sessions soon both virtually and in person.
